30 best villas for October half-term
This weekend’s Telegraph travel section featured an inspiring list of 30 of the best villas in Europe for an October half term break. The list includes a range of properties in France, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Turkey and Portugal, all with family-friendly facilities and availability at the end of October.
Our Villa Alti is one of the Telegraph’s suggestions in Sicily for families with under-8’s. Set on the south east coast, just across the road from a sandy beach, the villa comes with a garden with a private pool, and patio heater, which means you can still eat dinner outside, even when evening temperatures dip. The top attraction though is the fabulous rooftop hot tub – the perfect retreat once the kids have gone to bed. The 2-bedroom villa also has a wellness area with a running machine and weights bench.
It still feels like summer here in Sicily, with daytime temperature still hitting a balmy 25°, and evening temperatures only dipping to the low 20’s, which makes the prospect of a half-term break here all the more enticing! The sea is still lovely and warm and although the evenings are drawing in, we’re still enjoying 7 to 8 hours of sunshine.
So it’s still very much beach weather and at Villa Alti, there are plenty to choose from, from Santa Maria del Focallo to Baia Porto Ulisse. It’s also great weather for exploring some of the baroque towns of the southeast, with Scicli, Ragusa, Modica and Noto all easily accessible from the villa.
