Overview

OverviewSoak up the view from the terraces and poolside at this spectacularly located family villa in north east Sicily. Casa Sant’Anna is perched on a hillside, within easy reach of the town of Acquedolci and with dramatic sea views to the Aeolian islands. With three bedrooms and bathrooms and a private pool, it is an ideal holiday home for families looking for a relaxing break close to the beach and the Nebrodi Mountains.

The villa overlooks a large panoramic terrace with plenty of shady spots to sit and admire the view, and an outdoor kitchen corner (sink and hob) and barbecue. A small flight of terracotta tiled steps leads from the terrace down to the infinity pool which has graduated steps in one corner.

Inside, the villa is traditionally furnished, with beamed ceilings and tiled flooring. On the ground floor, a spacious living room, with dining table and TV corner, faces on to the terrace through floor to ceiling windows. There is a well-equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, microwave and everything else you need for a comfortable stay. One of the two bathrooms (bath/shower) is on this floor. The second bathroom (with shower) is on the first floor, alongside two double bedrooms, one of which can be converted to a twin. The single bedroom is located on the ground floor (1 estra sleep up to 6 guests can be arranged on request).

Area

Situated on the north coast of Sicily, between Cefalù and Capo d’Orlando, the villa is around 3 km from the shops and restaurants at Acquedolci and just a little further from the beaches.

Close by, the Nebrodi Mountains provide some of Sicily’s most spectacular landscapes, popular with hikers and foodies (salami, cheese) but also very appealing if you enjoy exploring out-of-the-way villages. San Marco d’Alunzio and San Fratello are well worth visiting – San Fratello has a pretty 11th century Norman church, with cloisters.

Other local towns include Santo Stefano di Camastra, renowned for its colourful ceramics, and Tindari, the site of a former Greek-Roman settlement and the Santuario di Tindari, built to house the much-revered Black Madonna. To the west of Acquedolci, the seaside resort of Cefalù offers an appealing mix of sandy beaches, a UNESCO world heritage site (Norman cathedral) and an attractive historic centre.

For a full day out, boat trips and snorkelling excursions depart from nearby Milazzo to the volcanic Aeolian Islands.

A very lovely villa in a great location. Beautifully clean, spacious and with everything you could possibly need for a very relaxing holiday. So easy to access all the gems of Northern Sicily and enjoy both sea and mountains - and all in one day perhaps! Soak up the sun by a crystal sea and then retreat to the cool countryside and the beautiful hill villages and rugged mountains of the Nebrodie. Perfect for lovers of history, culture, all things nautical and Sicilian gastronomy! And, did I mention the infinity pool? Totally gorgeous with the most amazing views . . .wonderful.

Lovely large villa with fantastic outside space. Amazing pool with beautiful views . Great service. Maybe more details about the property would be good as it was more remote than I thought and the area was far away from any tourist spots !

We had a wonderful holiday! Would recommend!
We had a wonderful two week stay at Casa Sant’Anna (me, my spouse and two children aged 16 and 13 years). The villa is beautifully secluded, with amazing views out over the Tyrrhenian Sea and Aeolian Isles. The rooms are well equipped, and the air conditioning was excellent. We ate most of our meals there out on the large balcony, cooking on the outside grill. It was a perfect base from which to explore the local sights, and visit the beautiful beaches on this coast (we favoured the rockier parts of the coast, where the snorkeling was best). We took many trips, including up Etna and a day out on a boat to the islands. The large infinity pool was a star of the holiday—large enough for all four of us to swim in together. It was genuinely a wonderful and luxurious stay. There was even Wi-Fi (to the children’s particular delight!). Definitely a five star review from us, and we would recommend it to our friends (and already have). The photos don’t really do it justice.
