Overview

OverviewIdeally situated for a week of sun and sand, Villa Marea is a good value family villa, with direct access to the very child-friendly sandy beach at Santa Maria del Focallo in south east Sicily.

The villa is perfect for a family with young children who will love the vast sweep of sand and gently shelving water. The beach resort of Pozzallo, which is around 10 minutes away by car, has a Blue Flag beach and traditional beachfront promenade, in addition to a good selection of shops, pizzerias and restaurants. Ispica, and the other baroque towns of the Val di Noto, are all within an hour’s drive of the villa.
The villa has a large garden, framed by towering palm trees and overlooked by an attractive covered veranda for al fresco dining. A second outdoor dining area provides an alternative eating area, with a barbecue, and the garden also has an enclosed newly-built private heated pool, mini-spa area, with heated Jacuzzi and sauna.

The interiors are simply furnished but with plenty of space for a family holiday. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a dishwasher and washing machine, and leads off from the living room. There are three bedrooms (two doubles, one twin) and three modern bathrooms on the ground floor. A double, a twin, a bathroom with shower and TV corner are located on the first floor.

This property is listed as a 'Premium Listing' villa. This means that the deposit payment is due to WishSicily and the full balance will be requested directly by our agency 60 days before the arrival date. WishSicily will provide you with check-in instructions before arrival.

  • Check-in is by 4pm for all guests. Guests may arrive at the villa before 4pm to drop off their luggage.
  • Check-out is before 10am and must be conducted in the presence of the property owner or manager.
  • Refundable security deposit of 500 euros payable in cash upon check-in or via credit card before arrival.
  • Electricity and air cond. 300 kWh included per week - euro 0,40 per kWh extra.
  • Local tourist tax “tassa di soggiorno”, euro 2 per person/night to be paid upon confirmation of booking.

Area

The beach of Santa Maria del Focallo, accessed directly from the villa, is a gorgeous stretch of sandy coastline, bordered by clear blue sea that is ideal for toddlers. In fact there are numerous good beach options for families along the coast, including those at Pozzallo and Sampieri.

The beaches at Pozzallo are extremely spacious, featuring honey-coloured soft sand and, in some cases, lido-style facilities. A seafront promenade is the idea spot for an evening passeggiata – accompanied by a soft, melty gelato of course! The town has a good selection of restaurants, cafés and gelaterias. There is also an attractive main piazza, with several historic palazzi, but the beach is the main attraction.

Ispica (6km) is the nearest of the magnificent baroque towns of the Val di Noto, but the towns of Scicli, Noto, Modica and Ragusa are all within an hour’s drive and well worth the visit. On the east coast, the little fishing village of Marzamemi is a pleasant place for an evening stroll and dinner while the extraordinary Greek city of Syracuse is just over an hour away. For a completely different experience, head for the Cava d’Ispica, a 13-km canyon studded with thousands of natural caves and grottoes dating back to around 2000BC, and rock churches from the Byzantine period.

Great villa in a beautiful place
Great house, excellent location and very kind owners. Add some Sicilian sunshine and you get an excellent holiday. The beach is next to the villa and perfect for families: nice sand and safe for children. The pool and jacuzzi finish it off. Booking went smooth

Beautiful Villa with lovely caring and attentive hosts. Available via WhatsApp for any queries and even came over to help us set up the TV to watch the Euro football final when we were having issues trying to find a live stream! Amazing location with access to a glorious beach just over the road. Lovely golden sand and clear warm water. Virtually empty during weekdays. The region wasn’t very touristy so no local shop to pop to. Just how we like it. We hired a car and supermarkets were plentiful with approx 10-15 min travel. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend.

Med 50m till stranden erbjuder denna villa enorm bekvämlighet för stor som liten. Vi reste 2 familjer tillsammans och hade en underbar vecka. Läget är strategiskt utifrån olika utflyktsmål, värdarna trevliga och tillmötesgående samt ljuvlig strand precis utanför huset. Pålitlig och snabba svar. Tydliga i kommunikationen.

We were a family party of 10 and the villa was a huge hit with us. The house is clean and comfortable, perhaps not luxurious but it suited us perfectly. The best things were the very large, very warm hot tub for me, the pool for all of us, and the 1 minute walk to a lovely empty beach and the sea for the swimmers. The owners were attentive but not at all intrusive. We had no problems but would not have hesitated to contact them if necessary. There is a good pizzeria/small general store just minutes drive from the house, Pozzallo is easily reached, and the baroque towns are nearby if you can drag yourself away from the beach. One small point to remember if you have small children is that the 2 bedroom/1 bathroom suite is upstairs and reached by an external staircase.
